Installment Payments of IMSS Fees

On April 21, 2020, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) issued a press release offering to execute a simplified agreement toward payment of outstanding fees in installments, requiring no guarantee for payment of tax liabilities. This opportunity derives from the effects of the COVID-19 health emergency.

The IMSS proposes a plan in which the minimum amount to be paid is 20% of the employer's contribution, and 100% of the social security fees.

To formalize the agreement, it is not necessary for the employers to visit any of the Deputy's Offices of the IMSS. The employer may e-mail a request for authorization of installment payments and submit certain documents. Once the IMSS verifies the information, the employer will receive an e-mail with the draft agreement and the deposit slip.

The execution of this agreement will prevent fines, insofar that it shall be understood that the employer has fulfilled its obligations voluntarily.
